Let's help Julia Contreras beat cancer.

Hello everyone, we are Anna and Arturo. She is our mom,  Julia, who  is 57 years old and lives in Caracas-Venezuela.

She is a mother, daughter, aunt, neighbor and friend, but above all she is an exceptional human being. Anyone who has had the opportunity to cross his path knows that she is a generous, simple person, with a heart full of kindness and empathy, honest, that all his life she has given her hand and more to help those who need it, without expecting anything in return. Today, she needs our help.

On the past 2th February, after weeks of several tests, she was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma. Multiple Myeloma is a type of blood cancer that affects the immune system (plasma cells), begins as an excessive production of malignant plasma cells in the bone marrow and this makes it difficult for the other components of the blood to be produced (red blood cells, platelets). In more advanced stages, these malignant cells migrate and invade other organs and tissues, such as bones and kidneys, substantially affecting the quality of life of those who suffer from it.

Right now, our mother is in stage II of the disease, this is the cancer haven't still invaded other organs. To prevent the cancer from spreading and have the possibility of remission, she urgently needs to undergo several cycles of chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant in the coming months. The bone marrow transplant need to take place in 3 months and has an approximate cost of  12,000 euros. My mother does not have private health insurance and the Venezuelan public health system does not guarantee the treatment.

As many of you may know, Venezuela is in an abysmal political, social and economic crisis, with an economic hyperinflation, where the average salary is not enough to cover basic expenses. In the case of our mother, who worked for more than 20 years for the public sector, receives a retirement pension of 2 usd per month.

My brother and I managed to emigrate 4 years ago to different countries with the minimum necessary to be able to start from scratch and thus be able to help our family. In our current situation we cannot financially face all the expenses, that is why we turn to you to help our mother to recover and give us the opportunity to be with her for many more years.

We will be eternally grateful for any contribution you can make, no matter how small, every grain of sand adds up. We would also greatly appreciate if you could share this post.

We will be sharing all the advances.
